Webinar #4 of the series Future of Online Participation in Cities

Citizens as Sensors?

Exploring participation in the Internet of Things

Smart cities increasingly rely on the deployment of sensor networks to collect environmental and urban data. But to what extent can citizens participate in the design of this data collection, and how open is the process and the data it generates?

In this webinar, we’ll explore how collaborative practices in the Internet of Things can help build more democratic smart cities. We’ll also discuss the risks that arise if, on the contrary, these initiatives extract data from citizens without involving them in decision-making processes. Attendees can watch live on Youtube and submit questions. Join us in the live discussion!
