In this discussion, experts will delve into the importance of DPIs in enabling political participation, discussing the key types of digital infrastructure required for inclusive decision-making processes in smart cities. Panelists will also analyze the roles that governments, civil society, and the private sector must play in co-producing essential data and technologies.
The discussion will cover critical questions such as:
- How can DPIs enhance democracy in smart cities?
- What types of digital infrastructures are needed for effective political participation?
- How can various actors collaborate in providing and maintaining these infrastructures?
- What capabilities should smart city governments focus on to ensure the sustainability of collaborative digital initiatives?

- Moderator: Fernanda Campagnucci – Postdoctoral researcher of the Scope Research Initiative at the University of Münster, with extensive experience in technology and data within the public sector and civil society.
- Panelists:
- Alejandra Gonzalez – Head of Growth at Codeando México, she is also a member of the digital innovation council of Monterrey and participates in the Decidim community.
- Christian Kray – Head of the Situated Computing Lab at the University of Münster, specializing in geoinformatics and spatial communication.
- Peter Sailer – Head of the International Smart Cities Network project at GIZ, focusing on integrating digital solutions in urban development.
This webinar is a key part of the Scope research project, led by Prof. José Carlos Vaz (EACH/USP) and postdoctoral researcher Fernanda Campagnucci, hosted by Prof. Norbert Kersting (University of Münster).
