The Brazil Chair and the Brazil Center at the University of Münster are excited to present the webinar series The Future of Online Participation in Smart Cities. This initiative brings together researchers and practitioners from the public sector and civil society to explore key aspects of online participation.
Topics include:
- Technological trends and best practices
- Challenges and barriers to implementation
- State capacity for online participation
- The relationship between democracy and state-society interaction
The first webinar, Artificial Intelligence and Online Participation, will take place on October 16 at 3 PM (CET).
This series is part of the research project Scope – State Capacity in Smart Cities for Online Participation, led by Prof. José Carlos Vaz (EACH/USP and Brazil Chair at Uni-Münster) and postdoctoral researcher Fernanda Campagnucci, and hosted by Prof. Norbert Kersting (Ifpol/Uni-Münster). It is supported by CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education in Brazil) and the Brazil Center at the University of Münster, with institutional partnerships from the International Digital Dialogues of the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport and the Goethe Institute – São Paulo.
Additionally, the first two webinars of the series are part of the GIZ programme for Urban October 2024, an initiative by UN-HABITAT dedicated to promoting more sustainable, just, and inclusive cities.
