On July 23, the National Front of Mayors of Brazil hosted a webinar titled “Paperless City Hall: Challenges of Digital Government and Adoption of New Technologies.” The event aimed to contribute to discussions on urban trends, assisting in the development of government projects for mayoral candidates in the upcoming 2024 municipal elections in Brazil.
Fernanda Campagnucci, postdoc researcher from the Scope project, discussed digital participation in smart cities and emphasized the importance of participatory approaches in the digital transformation processes of local governments.
The researcher highlighted some contributions from the Scope project, offering insights into the new demands on state capacities required for effective participation. She underscored that the transformation towards digital cities must be inclusive, ensuring that the digital tools and processes implemented cater to the diverse needs of all city residents.
Joining Fernanda were Beatriz Lanza, a consultant on Digital Government for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and Patrícia Valentina, Director of Information Management at the Regional Federal Court of the 4th Region in Brazil.
